29th Annual Fred Scott Feline Symposium

Greetings, and Happy Spring/Summer from Ithaca, New York. This time of year, has us thinking about renewal, the possibilities that lie ahead of us, and, of course, the Annual Fred Scott Symposium! This year marks the 29th iteration of this truly unique weekend of learning, networking, and reconnecting, all with a focus on feline health and well-being. With a tradition of excellence, an ongoing dedication to educating veterinary professionals today, and a future filled with the promise of new advances to share, new hope for the health of our feline friends, and an outstanding new venue in which to learn together, we are all very excited about this year’s program.

We are fortunate and honored to have Dr. Mark Peterson as our keynote speaker this year. Dr. Peterson is internationally recognized as one of the world’s preeminent veterinary endocrinologists, and his pioneering work in feline endocrinopathies laid the groundwork for, and continues to advance, our understanding of these common disorders that have a tremendous impact on feline well-being. Author of more than 450 journal articles, book chapters, and abstracts, recipient of numerous awards for clinical excellence and impact upon the field of veterinary medicine, and active clinical practitioner, Dr. Peterson’s dedication to our profession and to improving the lives of cats is inspiring. We are confident that his engaging, informative, and entertaining presentations will leave you with much to think about and to apply in your clinical practice.

Our program is rounded out by a wide variety of clinical and scientifically oriented topics, including interventional urology, behavior, theriogenology, rehabilitation, an update on feline viral diseases, and topics in feline anesthesia, presented by experts from both the College of Veterinary Medicine and from Cornell University Veterinary Specialists in Stamford, Connecticut. Housed for the last time in the excellent facilities at Martha Van Rensselaer Hall on the beautiful Cornell University campus, we are confident that this program will educate you, invigorate you, and leave you contemplating new ideas and applications that will improve your ability to help your feline patients.

While the focus of our Symposium is on learning, we also know that it is important to have fun, to socialize, and to eat, drink, and be merry. As in years past, we guarantee that along with a great educational experience, attendees will have a wonderful time in an elegant and exciting environment, both during the conference itself and during the wine and cheese and dinner events that we have planned. We also have a few tricks up our sleeves (paws?) to make sure that attendees leave relaxed and content.

We look forward to seeing you this summer in Ithaca, when the days are long, the leaves are green, the waterfalls are flowing, and old friends and new convene to learn together in this truly unique environment.
