On November 16th the Wilmington Chamber of Commerce will unveil the 2nd Annual Regional Economic Scorecard. The Scorecard was launched last year and was well received by community, business and elected leaders who saw the value in benchmarking Wilmington’s economic development progress against our peer cities. Knowing where we stand as we compete for human capital, traded sector jobs, entrepreneurs and innovative activity is key to our region’s future, especially in attracting and retaining a skilled workforce and businesses. The 2016 Scorecard will show how we have moved the needle in these key categories—for better or worse—as it charts our progress using the same metrics as the 2015 Scorecard.
This valuable tool helps area elected officials and business leaders make decisions concerning factors that affect Wilmington’s economic health. The publication is an honest assessment of where we excel and where we have challenges that need to be addressed. By using the same metrics year-over-year to measure the data, the patterns that are revealed will make the Scorecard one of our region’s most important economic development tools. It is likely to become a focus for determining our Chamber’s and our region’s future direction.
