An expanding body of research indicates that social-emotional competencies contribute to school success and resilience. As a result, many states are including these competencies in their educational standards. This, in turn, necessitates that schools are able to easily and efficiently screen, assess, monitor progress, and evaluate outcomes in the social-emotional domain.
This webinar will train participants to utilize the recently published DESSA Comprehensive System to meet these emerging standards as well as support the healthy social and emotional development of their students. The system includes the DESSA-mini a universal screening and progress monitoring tool, and the DESSA, an assessment of eight key social and emotional competencies. The use of the system in screening, assessing, promoting and evaluating social-emotional competencies will be the focus of this webinar. In addition, the use of the DESSA Comprehensive System in promoting parent-professional collaboration will be highlighted.
Learning Objectives for this webinar include:
- Use the DESSA and DESSA-mini to screen and assess the social-emotional competencies in children grades K-8.
- Explain how to evaluate and monitor progress in the acquisition of social-emotional competenices at the individual child and aggregate (e.g. classroom, school) level.
- Discuss how the DESSA and DESSA-mini can be used to promote parent and teacher collaboration
