4th Annual Palliative Care Collaborative of Rochester Educational Conference

Program Overview

The science of palliative care is evolving rapidly. Palliative care is practiced by both generalists and specialists across a variety of professional disciplines.
This conference targets an inter-disciplinary audience of palliative care generalists and specialists from the Western New York Region to establish an annual venue for continuing professional education in the evolving science and practice of palliative care.

At the conclusion of this activity, participants should be able to:
1) Explain how our unconscious biases might influence our clinical practice.
2) Explore the palliative care challenges of providing adequate pain relief and preventing addiction given the current opioid use epidemic.
3) Describe how to guide patients and families through DNR, DNI and advance care planning discussions that integrate the patient’s values in light of their condition.
