I am fellowship trained in regional anesthesiology and acute pain medicine but my additional academic interests are in the emerging role of perioperative point-of-care ultrasonography (PoCUS) for the anesthesiologist. Following regional anesthesiology training and completing the basic perioperative transesophageal echocardiography (TEE) certification, my enthusiasm for ultrasound grew. I now routinely teach, perform research and use PoCUS in the form of focused transthoracic echocardiography, lung and abdominal ultrasonography. I am also actively working with national societies to incorporate PoCUS into their education platforms.
