There are two topics associated with this event. Hear from Brian Barnes, a professor at Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, on "Handling Clients, Their Files, and Disciplinary Complaints." Mr. Barnes will cover multiple areas of law office management with a focus on client and attorney protection. Topics include attorney-client communications in modern practice that minimize ethical risks, file organization for lawyers, and how to return client files at the culmination of an action. Conflicts check system options and how to handle disciplinary complaints will also be covered in this 90 minute presentation.Next, presenting "Law Practice and Office Management: Lessons Learned Through Starting from Scratch" are local attorneys Richard Chopin and Justin Chopin of the Chopin Law Firm, LLC. During this presentation the attorneys will discuss: an introduction to their practice; lessons they learned from years in a big budget firm; how to simplify your practice by which software to use; lessons they learned from their mistakes and pitfalls for the small firm and solo practitioner.
