The New York State Board of Optometry (NYSBO)
has determined that Live Webinars can be classified as Live CE. As per
the NYSBO website: "Live courses are those in which you are able to
interact with the instructor. For example: a live lecture; a webinar, a
telecourse or teleconference in which you and the instructor can speak
directly with each other; a course in which you and other practitioners
discuss a taped presentation with a facilitator's assistance; a
computerized course in which you are able to interact directly with the
instructor. On the other hand, a televised lecture with no means of
direct interaction would not be acceptable as a live course even if it
is a live telecast." For more information please visit the NYSBO
For non-New York State licensees, please verify specific State licensure requirements with your State Board.
webinar is COPE approved for 1-hour of “Distance Learning”.
to receive COPE credit the participants are required to take a
post-course exam. The post-exam and answer sheet will be emailed 2 days
after the webinar along with the webinar’s recording.
As per the ARBO/COPE website "Live CE is when the instructor is in the same room with the
participants, even if other formats are used as audiovisual aids for
teaching the course. The instructor is face to face with the audience
and can touch the participants."
