This exclusive, 18-month executive training program explores the role, responsibilities, and influence of the CMO as a high-functioning member of the academic medicine C-suite. Designed by a committee of well-respected and experienced CMOs from academic medical centers and teaching hospitals, this program further develops the administrative knowledge and skills of current CMOs who are within the first three (3) years of the position and better prepares senior physician leaders interested in the CMO career path to manage the general complexities of the role. Using a blended learning approach that combines didactics, e-learning, and independent study as well as peer and executive mentorship, participants will advance their administrative and leadership proficiencies to successfully meet both the clinical and business demands associated with the CMO role in today’s healthcare environment.
Newly appointed CMOs who are within the first 1-3 years of the position, and senior physician leaders interested in assuming the CMO role during their career. Applicants must be affiliated with an AAMC member institution, or a non-profit medical education or professional organization in order to be considered for this program. Ethnic minorities and women are strongly encouraged to apply.
The CMO Leadership Academy consists of four (4) in person meetings and six (6) virtual meetings. Participants are strongly encouraged to also attend the 2017 AAMC Chief Medical Officers Group (CMOG) and Group on Faculty Practice (GFP) meeting, which follows the February 8, 2017 in-person meeting. Attendance at all meetings listed below is mandatory for program completion.
