The two-day Abdominal program covers the broad range of applications for ultrasound evaluation of the abdomen. The program consists of lectures supplemented by demonstrations and case reviews. The Saturday optional hands-on experience with live models is provides an opportunity for clinicians to hone skills and develop new ones.Emphasis is placed on an integrated approach combining details of normal ultrasound anatomy and typical ultrasound patterns of abdominal pathologySpecific lecture topics include a review of principles of ultrasound physics, instrumentation and imaging techniques including Doppler, and ultrasound evaluation of:•Detailed Abdominal Vascular Anatomy•Biliary System•Pancreas•Great Vessels•Urinary Bladder•Pediatric Abdomen (limited)•Liver•Kidneys and Reroperitoneum•Spleen•Thyroid and Parathroid•ScrotumThrough attending this course, the participant should be able to:•appreciate the relationship between acoustic physics and the sonographic representation of tissue•recognize the acoustic representation of normal abdominal anatomy and identify pathologies of the abdomen from ultrasound images•understand and discuss the capabilities and limitations of ultrasound evaluation of the abdomenCME CreditsThis program is approved for 12 hours of AMA Category I credit.
