You are invited to a three-day, train-the-trainer session designed for individuals or teams who would like to train others in becoming trauma-informed. The sessions will be Oct. 25-27 in Bloomington. Upon completing the training, attendees will be prepared to present information on ACEs, building resilience, increasing executive functioning, and will be able to train on other tools in order to implement trauma-informed classrooms and schools. All of these skills also will help school districts to comply with the new student discipline law that went into effect on Sept. 15 (SB 100/P.A. 99-0456).
If you don’t have any background on ACEs, we urge you to watch two videos prior to arrival at the training. One is Dr. Nadine Burke Harris’ Ted Talk on ACEs and the other is Dr. Marjorie Fujara’s short webinar for IEA members on the effect of ACEs on the brain called: It’s Not Rocket Science, It’s Brain Science. Both are posted on the IEA website.
The training will discuss some of the science, but will concentrate on ACEs, schools, practical applications, etc. and teach you how to train on these topics.
