Solutions for Complex Extremity Fractures
This two day course focuses on the current challenges orthopaedic surgeons face. Our esteemed international faculty will provide didactic presentations accompanied with hands-on surgical-based training focusing on complex upper extremity fracture solutions. The course begins Friday, 4 November 2016 and concludes on Saturday, 5 November 2016.
Hand and Wrist Session
Participants will learn the latest in the treatment options for the hand and wrist. Presenters will cover percutaneous fixation of scaphoid fractures, prevention of complications of volar plating of the radius and additionally, the course will cover indications and techniques of ulnar shortening.
Participants will learn about treatment options for radial head repair from basic fixation to arthroplasty. Additionally, this section provides the principle-based approach to distal humerus fixation and features treatment methods for olecranon and coronoid fractures and elbow instability.
Participants will learn the challenges and complications of complex fractures for the shoulder. Our faculty will share their experience in AC ligament injuries and reconstruction, midshaft humeral fractures and Polarus nail vs plating.
Participants will gain practical hands-on experience in our sawbones workshop covering suggested treatment options for these challenging indications.
Ian Incoll, MBBS, FRCS, FAOrthA
Dr. Incoll received his medical training at the University of Sydney and specialized in orthopaedic surgery. He obtained fellowships in the Royal Australasian College of Surgeons (RACS) in 1999 and the Australian Orthopaedic Association (AOA) in 2002.
Dr. Incoll is recognised as an expert in surgical education and has been invited to lecture internationally. He is president and Dean of Education for AOA and is clinical lead for the AOA 21 Transformation Project. He is the immediate past Chair of Education and Training for AOA and Chair of the Australian Board of Orthopaedic Surgery for RACS. He is a Program Advisory Board member for the International Conference on Residency Education and a reviewer for a number of surgical journals.
