This course will introduce you to the self-evaluation and transition plan requirements that all local governments must have as part of their Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) obligations and the need to act now. With the ADA’s passage more than 25 years ago, it is critically important that local governments recognize their obligation to upgrade streets, sidewalks, and facilities for accessibility and the first step in demonstrating a good faith effort is the self-evaluation and transition plans required of all public agencies in the ADA law. In this course, we will provide a brief explanation of the who, what’s, and requirements of the ADA as it relates to local government programs in the roads right-of-way, and explain the background and demonstrate that a self-evaluation and transition plan need not be overly burdensome.**This is a free event, however registration is required.**
