Overview

Renewable Chemicals Live (RCL), co-sponsored by the Technical Association of the Pulp and paper Industry (TAPPI), will host a one-day Forest Biorefinery Workshop for those seeking to develop biorefinery strategies and better understand emerging biorefinery technologies in the forestry sector, as well as their design/implementation in a business strategy.

The course will consist of 3 presentations by leading biorefinery consultants and strategists related to the needs of the forestry sector for biorefinery transformation.  Their presentations will address information related to key issues:

  • Competitive advantages and disadvantages of forest sector companies in the bio-economy
  • Common biorefinery implementation strategy for forestry companies
  • Biorefinery process configurations for forestry companies
  • Status of biorefinery development in North America
  • Leading forestry companies implementing biorefinery strategies
  • Successful business plans for companies seeking to invest in the biorefinery
  • Extensive Case Study examples
  • One-hour Interactive Discussion

The materials will be supported by case study examples, and the course will end with an interactive one-hour discussion period where participants and course indstructors will exchange on targeted questions.

Who Should Attend

This course is intended for forest industry and non-forest industry professionals involved in or impacted by the emerging bio-economy, and who seek to understand better the perspective and priorities of the emerging forest industry commitment to the biorefinery.  Executive management including especially strategy planners, as well as product development/technical experts in the bioenergy and renewable chemicals sectors, will be particularly interested in this course.
