Advanced Issues for Forensic Interviewers

The Other Side of the Coin: Understanding Perpetrators of Child Sexual Abuse

This year’s Advanced Issues for Forensic Interviewers is a two day training focusing on the perpetrators of sexual abuse. Ashley Weir, Assistant Professor and Director of the Forensic Sexual Behavior Program for Tulane University School of Medicine, will share her expertise with us regarding how sexual perpetrators interact with their victims. Ms. Weir will provide information about male and female offenders, juvenile offenders, online offenders, including producers and consumers of child sexual abuse images, and offenders who are teachers.

Also during this time, Ada McCloud, Program Administrator for CACTX, will be presenting a new approach to giving and receiving feedback that is geared towards improved quality of feedback and ultimately, improved forensic interviewing skills. This training is ideal for tenured interviewers and new interviewers, who are looking for ideas and concepts to continue to develop their skills as well as to better understand the dynamics of sexual abuse and potential barriers to disclosure.
