Advanced Robot-Assisted Radical Prostatectomy and Near Infrared Fluorescence Imaging Partial Nephrectomy

This live web-based activity seeks to provide urologists with an opportunity to observe the techniques of daVinci partial / full nephrectomy and a radical prostatectomy as performed by expert surgeons.

Many urologists wishing to embark on robot assisted surgery, or on improving their skills do not have access to a large surgical volume to benefit from repetition, from frequently performing or observing the procedure. The latter, in most cases, cannot be done without significant interruption to one’s schedule to travel to one of several available conferences, or observation sites. The goal of this web-based format is to provide interested urologists with the opportunity to observe and discuss live cases, without the need to travel, keeping them available to their patients.

Participants will be surveyed six months following the activity to ascertain if they were able to put into practice any of the skills presented during the live activity.

Target Audience
The target audience for this activity is practicing urologists, residents and fellows in urology.  The geographic scope is national and international.

Overall Learning Objective
Demonstrate via a live operating room broadcast the specific surgical techniques for performing a robot assisted radical prostatectomy and partial nephrectomy . The use of Near Infrared Fluorescence  (Firefly TM) Imaging will also be demonstrated.

Specific Learning Objectives of the Radical Prostatectomy
 - Describe proper port placement
 - Review bladder take down techniques
 - Explain bladder neck sparing
 - Define neurovascular bundle preservation technique
 - Demonstrate bladder reconstruction technique

Specific Learning Objectives of the Partial / Full Nephrectomy
 - Demonstrate Exposure of Tumor
 - Review Hilar Dissection / Clamping Techniques
 - Describe the use of Ultrasound
 - Describe use of Firefly TM
 - Demonstrate Tumor Resection
 - Demonstrate Renal Reconstruction

Access to view both surgeries in their entirety, will be available to all registrants for 30 days following the live program.
