With more than 5,000 nonprofits in Kansas City, how can you use digital communications to stand out from the crowd, promote your organization and raise funds?  At the May AFP Forum, our panel of experts will help you find out. 

Whether you are new to digital communications or experienced in the field, you will gain insights you can use in your day-to-day Development work.

The May Forum features a panel of experts, including:

Lauren Vaughn – Digital Marketing Specialist; serves on the Board of Social Media Club KC as Membership Chair

Candice Wolken – Director of Interactive Communications and Marketing, Unity World Headquarters

Michelle Trevino – Digital Editor, Unity World Headquarters 

Michael A. Levine – Communications & Marketing Manager, Susan G. Komen Greater Kansas City; Board President of Social Media Club KC

Lauren Vaughn started with social media in 2006, while still in college. She has agency experience, currently works in the for-profit sector and volunteers for a several nonprofit organizations. Lauren will provide an overview of various digital channels and their uses. She will also talk about what you can learn from an audit and how to implement best practices.

Candice Wolken is in charge of strategy, planning and execution for digital communications and marketing.  In her current position, she oversees the development of websites, social media, search, podcast, email newsletters, paid advertising and mobile. She will talk about developing an overall strategy for your organization and share insights on the role of digital in evolving markets.

Michelle Trevino has more than 20 years of experience in web design and development, graphic design, and marketing.  She has managed hundreds of projects from concept to completion, while keeping within budget.  She will talk about how she helps her organization implement digital strategy and share a recent experience where she and her team developed a video for Random Acts of Kindness Week that received 60,000 hits.

Michael A. Levine’s nonprofit career has spanned more than 25 years. He is adept at using digital communications to foster grassroots passion for the organizations he serves. He employs a “mobile first attitude,” making sure TV, radio and newsprint are all working together. He and his team utilize data to drive their marketing and fundraising decisions. He will share how his organization leveraged $300 on social media to raise $45,000 in donations.

AFP Forums are the AFP Mid-America Chapter's monthly professional series. Each AFP Forum includes networking, AFP updates, and a great topic covered by a local expert. 
Each AFP Forum offers 1.5 CFRE CEUs.


AFP Forums are $15/session for AFP members; $25 for non-members.  If you must cancel, please notify us by Friday, May 12 to receive a refund. There will be no refunds issued for cancellations after this date; no-shows will be billed.
