| | This two-part Asset Liability Management (ALM) class covers two topic areas including: Interest Rate Risk and Liquidity Risk. Participants may attend one or both sessions.
ALM Update: Interest Rate Risk: 9:00 am – Noon On Sept. 30, 2012, the NCUA’s final rule requiring federally insured credit unions to develop and adopt a written policy on interest rate risk (IRR) management and a program to effectively implement that policy, as part of their asset liability management responsibilities went into effect. This course introduces the concept of IRR in the credit union balance sheet and explores the most common form of IRR and presents the most common approaches to estimating and managing risk.
During this session, you will: Understand the increased examiner focus on interest rate risk, and who is subject to the new requirements Learn key concepts, policies and procedures Learn how to measure and monitor interest rate risk Understand stress testing, control and evaluation of your policies and procedures

ALM Update: Liquidity Risk: 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm This course serves as a refresher to liquidity management, with an emphasis on traditional models. By attending the program, participants will gain a basic framework to serve as a guide for developing and revising their own liquidity policy, including liquidity and funding principles and standards.
During this session, you will: Learn how to identify, manage and control liquidity risk Understand the fundamental elements in operational and contingency liquidity Establish best practices when forecasting cash flow needs and sources Review external funding and asset liquidation options
