APC/Seed Council Summer Tour

Members of the agronomic products and seed industries gather for a time of networking, learning and fellowship during the annual PennAg Agronomic Products Council and Seed Council Summer Tour.

This year's event will tour through Lancaster county, meeting at the Lancaster County Bible Church (Ephrata) to board the coach bus for the day. The first visit will be the Herr's Potato Chip Factory. Herr Foods is a leader in the snack food industry. Their full line of quality snacks currently consists of more than 340 items including potato chips, pretzels, tortilla chips, cheese curls, popcorn, crackers, nuts, pork rinds, onion rings and meat sticks.

From meager beginnings, through many challenges and difficulties, Herr Foods has survived and prospered. The legacy that Jim Herr passed on to the next generation of leadership has become the solid foundation for the future.

The tour of Herr's Potato Chip Factory will be followed by lunch at the famous Shady Maple Smorgasbord, East Earl, PA.

The last tour of the day will be Limeville Quarry in Gap, PA. Limeville Quarry is a location of New Enterprise Stone & Lime Co., Inc., a fifth-generation, family-owned company that has been helping to build a stronger infrastructure system across Pennsylvania for more than 90 years.

Founded in 1924, New Enterprise is a leading privately held, vertically integrated construction materials supplier and heavy/highway construction contractor in Pennsylvania and Western New York and a national traffic safety services and equipment provider.
