ASSBI 40th Annual Brain Impairment Conference

Dear Colleagues,

It is with great pleasure that I invite you to the 40th Annual Brain Impairment Conference (ASSBI) being held at the Grand Hyatt, Melbourne, Australia on 1st – 3rd June 2017.

The theme of this conference is: Looking back to look ahead: 40 years of science, practice and education in brain impairment. The conference will cover both clinical and laboratory studies, relating to assessment and rehabilitation of individuals with brain impairment across the lifespan, with a strong focus on how knowledge and scientific evidence can be effectively translated into practice. We will also reflect on the past 40 years of ASSBI and consider what the next 40 years might look like.

As ASSBI is a multidisciplinary society, we encourage researchers and health professionals in areas such as neuropsychology, clinical psychology, speech pathology, occupational therapy, physiotherapy, social work, neurology, psychiatry, rehabilitation and nursing to contribute and take part.

Keynote speakers of the Conference include: Professor Roshan das Nair (UK), Dr Tessa Hart (USA), A/Prof William Levack (NZ), and A/Prof Olivier Piguet (AUS). Professor Jacinta Douglas (AUS) will give the ASSBI Presidential Address.

A special panel event and a number of pre-conference workshops will be organised to provide attendees with the latest developments in the understanding and treatment of brain impairment. A new presentation format, “how-to” sessions, will also be introduced this year to encourage skill development led by experienced clinicians.

We look forward to welcoming you to Melbourne.
