A variety of shuttle/limousine services are available at McCarran International, and are located on the west side of baggage claim, outside door exits 7-13. Please note that there are both group shuttle and "for-hire" stretch limousine services. The shuttles range in price from $6.00 to $8.00 (one way) – and you usually get a little price break if you pay for round trip up front. They do wait until full before leaving the airport and do stop at more than one hotel so sometimes your trip can be lengthy (in duration if not miles). For round trips you must remember to call them and book your pick up a least 24 hours before you need your return ride to the airport. There are also traditional taxis – for a mid-range price. For those looking for something more fancy:Pre-Arranged, Pre-Paid Airport VIP ShuttleBe treated like a VIP for about the price of a taxi. Our representative will call you when your plane lands, meet you in the baggage claim area holding a sign with your name on it, help you with your luggage and escort you to the shuttle bus or van which will take you to your hotel. Round Trip is available. One way $18. Round Trip $30. Book online at http://www.mwtravelvegas.com.Getting up and down the strip and around the area:For information on low cost shuttles, buses, trolleys, and monorail service – and FREE trolleys on the strip – go here: http://off2vegas.com/transit.html
1. Check into the hotel* – Bally’s registration desk is just forward of its main entrance.2. Find the bellman’s desk if you want assistance with your bags. 3. Tip your bellman please!4. Check out the Conference area – its at the bottom of the North Tower 5. If its Sunday after 6pm – come on down to the Conference area and register or pick up your badge if you have already registered online/through the mail6. MINGLE – if its Sunday – there’s bound to be a lot of Conference Attendees about the hotel and beyond its borders7. Anytime after Sunday – make sure you come to the Conference area and get your Conference started…you can’t attend any class or roundtable, or enter the Exposition without a badge – so start at the Registration Desk first.*Check-In time is 4:00pm and Check-Out time is 11:00am. If you get in earlier than you can check in to your room, you usually can check your luggage in with the bellman.
Well it’s a pretty broad question but here’s a good idea on what to do, depending on what’s happened…1. If it’s an emergency and you are at the hotel – contact the operator and/or security. Otherwise dial 911.2. If it’s a personal situation and you need support or someone to help you troubleshoot the situation – contact an APP Board member, or Caitlin (administrator to the APP). If we can’t help, we can probably get you to someone who can.3. If there’s a problem with personnel at the Conference or your Conference experience – contact a Conference Committee member4. Lost & Found or Theft: the APP usually has a lost and found box at the APP Merchandise Booth and the Registration Desk – if it’s something valuable and we haven’t found it – hotel security can usually assist you in finding out if its been turned in. Please note even if found and secured - it may take awhile to get turned into the security office (hours or days) - keep checking back with security.
1. Arrive in good shape! Get your rest and take your vitamins in the days (weeks?) leading up to Conference.2. Get your rest! Getting rest in Las Vegas is often difficult but in order to get the most out of classes, it’s imperative. Consider scheduling yourself for a mid-day rest, or a “turn in” time. It’s hard to feel like you’re missing out on the nightlife but well worth it if your focus is education.3. Eat well. Again with the busy schedule of Conference many of your meals may be grab and go. Try and schedule one sit down meal (at least) a day. Without proper energy the engine won’t go.4. Stay calm, use your head. With less sleep, less food, and a lot of demands on you - you’re apt to be a little more emotional and perhaps reactive. Remember, everyone at the Conference is in the same boat. If something’s getting under your skin - remember to breathe, and maybe consider stepping outside to clear your head. 5. If you are a drinker -drink wisely. Having fun is one thing, but remember not only are you representing yourself but you are also representing the industry. Conference is a place to shine, and no one wants to regret what they’ve done the next day or miss that most anticipated class because they are sick.6. If you’re sober - Las Vegas and Conference can be a tough environment. Remember there is support available should you need it- please contact Caitlin or Bethra for assistance.7. One of the beautiful things about Conference is the sharing of information in informal settings from piercer to piercer - be a part of this amazing experience - remain open to the experience of both listening and learning from others and lifting others up through the sharing of knowledge you have. Everyone has to start from somewhere - be a part of bringing everyone along to be their very best.8. Take care of each other - watch out for others at the Conference. Not everyone will take the advice listed here. Help each other out in keeping an eye on belongings, sharing meals, making good decisions, etc.9. Do body art early or wait until you get home. Fresh piercings, tattoos and other body work seem like a good idea right before going to Conference - but taking care of them when you are stressed, out of your regular routine and in an exceptionally dry environment - is not a good idea. Enjoy the hot tubs and sun while in Las Vegas and only show up with well healed piercings/tattoos!
We have all been there - storms, family emergency, illness - sometimes your best laid plans just don't go as planned. The APP will refund only 50% of your conference fees up to June 1st. If you cancel after that, no refund will be issued. However, if your cancellation is due to emergent & unforeseen circumstances - we will consider alternative arrangements on a case by case basis. The APP strongly suggests that you consider purchasing travel insurance if booking a flight far in advance. For just a small amount, you can be assured of a refund or credit if a cancellation has to be made. Airlines vary, but see what is available for your flight - just in case!
