The Council and Conference Committee of AuSPEN extends a warm invitation to all who work in clinical nutrition and nutrition support to join us in Melbourne for the 42nd AuSPEN Annual Scientific Meeting. This year’s theme is “The Impact of Malnutrition – we can’t afford to ignore it!”
We are delighted that Professor Pierre Singer will be our international keynote speaker for 2016. Prof Singer is the director of the Department of General Intensive Care and Institute of Nutrition, Rabin Medical Center, Beilinson Hospital, Petach Tikva, Israel, and Chairman of the Division of Anaesthesia and Intensive Care of the Sackler School of Medicine, Tel-Aviv University. He is a recent past Chairman of ESPEN, and leads the teaching of the highly successful ESPEN course on indirect calorimetry.
The conference will run across three days, with concurrent sessions on Thursday 17th November, including two ESPEN LLL courses being offered for the first time ever in Australasia: Nutrition in Intensive Care; and Nutrition Support in the Perioperative Period.
On Thursday we are also offering symposia focusing on Food Allergy and Intolerance and Paediatric Nutrition Support featuring nationally renowned experts in these fields.
The main program on Friday 18th and Saturday 19th November will feature a diverse and exciting range of clinical nutrition topics, including parenteral nutrition, nutrition in cancer and gastroenterology, assessment of nutritional status and skeletal muscle, critical care, nutrition governance and economics, nutrition in the elderly and more! See the Program tab for full details.
The program will also feature an oral free paper presentation, poster sessions, awarding of the AuSPEN prizes for abstract presenters, the annual AuSPEN clinical practice and research symposium and a special breakfast symposium (to be announced).
