Debbie Roberts, a local mother of two teens, shares her family's personal experience to begin a conversation on the use, misuse and dangers of social media. Learn about which safety precautions work, which don't and why. Learn about the laws that apply to teen sexting. This informative presentation will empower parents and professionals with up-to-date information about the latest apps kids are using and the tools necessary to keep kids and teens safer in the social media world. Debbie Roberts is an educator at St. Matthew's Catholic School. Before she became a parent, she spent six years building underwater mines for the US Navy and 14 years as a personal fitness trainer and pilates instructor. She enjoys sharing her story to help other families navigate the challenging intersection of parenting and technology, and encourages parents to continue learning to keep kids and teens safe.
