L. Darnell Olowofoyeku, has been a CARF surveyor for the past 22 years surveying under both behavioral health and opioid treatment standards. She initiated the CARF clinical subcommittee to review clinical standards and provide recommendations to CARF for the development of new standards and/or revision of existing clinical standards. She also served as a member on the pharmacotherapy committee responsible for reviewing these standards and making recommendations to CARF for revision as needed. Mrs. Olowofoyeku participated in the potential surveyors’ mentorship program consisting of training and mentoring intern surveyors, hosted CARF webinars, and served as co-facilitator of a conference session at the CARF annual conference. Mrs. Olowofoyeku has been employed by the D.C. government for the last 24 years in the areas of mental health, substance abuse, continuous quality improvement, and consumer advocacy. She is a registered nurse licensed in D.C. as well as 24 states in the United States. She has served as associate professor at the University of the District of Columbia, teaching subjects on clinical supervision, confidentiality, and other related courses that prepare students to become addiction and alcohol treatment counselors. She also served as the treasurer of the D.C. counseling certification board for over ten years. Mrs. Olowofoyeku is a doctorate degree candidate in health administration, has a master's degree in public health, has a bachelor of science degree in public health/health education, and has a nursing degree in science. Other credentials include certified public management and certified gerontology fellow.
