Being Peace Retreat with Plum Village Monastics

Discovering the peace we have within and how to create peace around us

27-31st May 2019      STOURBRIDGE UK

We are delighted to offer a retreat led by Sister Annabel Laity and monastics from Plum Village in the Plum Village tradition of Thich Nhat Hanh in May 2019 at Stourbridge. The retreat offers the precious opportunity to be part of a mindful community together for four days. During the retreat we can slow down and enjoy time quietly and joyfully, supported by experienced practitioners. The retreat is suitable for all ages and for all those interested in practising mindfulness, whether you have previous experience or not. We welcome people of all ages to attend this retreat.

During the retreat we will enjoy learning about the teachings of Thich Nhat Hanh and we will also have many opportunities to practice mindfulness throughout the day. Mindfulness practices offered include – formal sitting and walking, mindful eating at all meals, noble silence overnight, outdoor walking, deep relaxation and deep listening and mindful speaking during our sharing groups.

The accommodation and food are simple. However the campus is spacious and well cared for, so there are many beautiful trees and spaces to enjoy.

We welcome families and will be running a programme for children and teenagers ages 5-17. This programme enables the parents/carers to have an opportunity to benefit from the teaching in the morning and the sharing groups in the late afternoon. The programme for young people offers opportunities to play and to learn about Plum Village mindfulness in an age appropriate way. There will also be a space available for younger children where parents can support each other with childcare.

In the past we have enjoyed having all sorts of different combinations of people attending and making these retreats joyful, calm and caring. This has included grandparents with grandchildren, elderly friends coming together, aunts coming with nephews and nieces, people of all ages coming by themselves, three generations of family coming together, single parents with their children and so on. You are all welcome to form part of our mindful community together for four days in May.

Please note: online bookings close at midnight on Friday 10th May 2019
