Cara Rivera, Managing Partner, KWF Consulting
Cara Rivera (formerly Kaufman) is Managing Partner of KWF Consulting. Established in 2000, we are the largest management consultancy serving scholarly publishing, with a team of 20 accomplished consultants and the breadth and depth necessary to meet the rapidly evolving needs of our community. Our services include strategy and innovation, publishing and operations, RFPs and contracts, market research and intelligence, sales and marketing, and executive and editor recruiting. As a result of the care, collaborative spirit, and creativity with which each project is handled, we consistently discover opportunities, drive innovation, develop solutions and deliver success for our clients. Prior to the formation of KWF, Cara held executive positions at what is now Wolters Kluwer among other publishers and nonprofits. Cara earned a BA with Honors in English Literature from Carleton College and an MBA in Marketing and Marketing Research from DePaul University.
Jason Winkler is a Publisher for Elsevier within the Health & Medical Sciences, STM Journals division. In this role, he oversees a portfolio of journals in ophthalmology and pathology. Prior to joining Elsevier in 2015, Jason was Director of Strategic Business Development for the American Psychological Association (APA) in Washington, DC. In this position, he oversaw the launch and acquisition of several scholarly journals. In addition, he oversaw new product development, strategic market research, development of mobile applications, management of social media, and digital outreach to non-traditional customers.
Before joining the APA, Jason worked as a marketing specialist at the Deloitte Center for Health Solutions. Jason holds a BA degree in Psychology from the University of Connecticut, and an MBA in Marketing and Strategy from the University of Maryland, College Park.
