It has been cited as a contributing factor to approximately 100,000-400,000 deaths in the United States per year and has increased health care use and expenditures. This course is designed to implement the theory and application of effective treatment plans for weight management into the health care professional's practice in a variety of settings with a variety of client specific needs. This class is perfect for practitioners who want to gain more knowledge about nutrition, physical activity, medical and behavioral aspects of weight management in relation to our society with prevalent overweight and obesity. Synthesis and evaluation of comprehensive screening, assessment, and intervention skill sets specific to weight management based on clinical evidence will be incorporated. This course may be taken as an elective in the RN to BS and the masters programs. It is also open to non-matriculated students.
