This three-day forensic interview training session is designed to address the issues and concerns of beginner- to intermediate-level interviewers. The curriculum is based on current research and case law and explores the issues of disclosure, interviewing reluctant children, developmental considerations and cultural issues. It focuses on challenges to and strategies for conducting forensic interviews with children in cases involving allegations other than sexual abuse, including: physical abuse, stranger perpetrator incidents, teen love and child witness. This session is designed to assist interviewers in implementing sound and effective strategies to meet these and other inevitable challenges, while maintaining the integrity of the investigation and allowing the competence of the child. CACTX also offers tenured forensic interviewers the opportunity to audit this training.Prerequisites: In order to participate in this training, attendees must have completed the first session of the CACTX Forensic Interview Core Curriculum entitled, Semi-Structured Narrative Process: Practical Application for Forensic Interviewers [Core Curriculum Block I] or another nationally recognized training curriculum. Because capacity is limited in this session of the core curriculum, it is required that those who attend must fully participate in all three days in order to be eligible to receive a certificate of completion for the entire CACTX Forensic Interview Core Curriculum.Approval Process: Registrants will be notified of approval status after registration deadline, approximately one month prior to training. Offering quality, professional training in a classroom environment is a key priority for our organization, and we feel that this format is the most conducive to effective learning. Our format allows for small groups, one-on-one coaching and ample Q&A. However, given the inherent size of classroom training, we have to carefully manage the registration process. Our goal is to ensure that participants have timely access to the training sessions they are in need of in order to do their important jobs effectively. In reviewing registrations, our process is to assess both the registrant CAC’s needs as well as the registrant’s completion of course prerequisites.
