Come out to the Britannia Mine Museum National Historic Site to gain a
deeper understanding and appreciation for rocks and minerals!
Students will get to:
-identify and describe selected rock and mineral samples
-examine core samples and map out a mineral deposit found deep in the
-ride the mine train into a historic tunnel (will be loud and be dark)
-discover how and why we mine, as well as the realities of using
-try their hand at gold panning!
Lunch space will be provided for students to eat their bag lunches.
*This is not a drop-off event, parents are responsible for the care and supervision of their child(ren) at all times.

*Pre-K ages 4-5 may sign up as a General Community registered student. Not suitable for children under 4 years old.
Please bring a notebook, bag lunch and wear sturdy (closed toe) footwear and a warm jacket.
