The Brody School of Medicine has major research programs targeting
diabetes, cardiovascular disease, cancer, neurological disorders and
the viability of blood products, among others. Research Departments
include: Anatomy & Cell Biology, Biochemistry, Microbiology &
Immunology, Pharmacology, Physiology, Pulmonary and Critical Care. Our
Clinical Trials Office facilitates the evaluation of promising new
treatments among patients who desire access to them.
Research programs focus on the health concerns of eastern North
Carolina. The research goals of this laboratory is to determine the role
of cell-matrix interactions during embryonic development, tissue
homeostasis and the modulation of the cellular response to growth
