Engaging The Next Generation as Volunteers, Employees, and Board Members

In our interactions with hundreds of nonprofit organizations, MNA has identified two consistent challenges: the need for additional qualified board members, and the need to recruit and retain a sustainable workforce for the future.

Montana businesses – whether for-profit or nonprofit – contend with an aging workforce, a low wage base, and a sparse population living in far-flung rural communities. For nonprofits, the dearth of human resources is felt even more keenly because we seek not only employees, but a minimum of three volunteer board members for every nonprofit in the state.
In response to these challenges, MNA is intensifying our focus on next generation leadership in the nonprofit sector. Building Tomorrow’s Nonprofits workshops will equip nonprofit board and staff members with information, resources and tools they need to successfully engage next generation volunteers, board members and employees in their mission.

From managing multiple generations in the workplace to evaluating HR policies, developing career pathways, prioritizing work/life balance, and leveraging a cause-oriented workplace, workshop participants will gain an understanding how they can best position their organization to be a top choice for the next generations of nonprofit leaders.
