The CBMI faculty includes presidents, vice presidents or vice chancellors and other key faculty and administrators of prominent colleges and universities across the nation. Corporate executives also make up the CBMI faculty. The distinguished instructors are practicing administrators and leaders in their fields. They are actively involved with professional associations such as SACUBO, NACUBO, NASPA, APPA, CUPA, NACUA, NACAS, ACUHO and URMIA. The faculty receives feedback through participant evaluations which enable them to improve their instruction each year. The Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO) provide 12 scholarships of $750 each to personnel of SACUBO member institutions. The scholarships are awarded annually for one year of study, but applicants may re-apply for additional years. SACUBO registration fees will be paid first out of the award amount. The residual will be paid to the institution after the end of CBMI. Please allow four to six weeks after the closing of the conference for the check to arrive. A certificate is awarded to participants after the completion of three years of CBMI study. College and university business officers respect the CBMI certificate as a significant mark of distinction and accomplishment.
Continuing education units are available through CBMI: CEUs, CPM points, and CPE credits.
The Southern Association of College and University Business Officers (SACUBO) is registered with the National Association of State Boards of Accountancy (NASBA) as a sponsor of continuing professional education on the National Registry of CPE Sponsors. State boards of accountancy have final authority on the acceptance of individual courses for CPE credit. Complaints regarding registered sponsors may be submitted to the National Registry of CPE Sponsors through its website: www.learningmarket.org. NASBA Sponsor Identification Number: 104508. CPE certificates are issued by an association volunteer, therefore we are not able to accurately estimate it’s delivery date upon completion of CBMI. Please allow up to 8 weeks to receive your CPE certificate via email. CBMI will be held on the University of Kentucky campus in the Student Center and the White Hall Classroom Buildings. To view a campus map and see the classroom locations, click here.
Additional information about class locations will be provided in an e-mail to all registrants the week before the CBMI conference.
CBMI is held in two separate locations requiring about a 5-10 minute walk. Participants needing assistance due to a physical disability should note their need on their registration under "special needs" and contact the MRA office via e-mail at email@example.com CBMI participants are encouraged to wear casual attire to all class sessions. The dress for Monday evening's reception & dance is "business casual" and the Thursday evening banquet is "business dressy." The classrooms can sometimes be quite cool; we strongly recommend that you bring a sweater or light jacket. We also recommend comfortable walking shoes during the class day. Furthermore, it is advised to bring a travel umbrella (don't forget to check the weather each morning!)
Lexington is situated at the intersection of two major interstates; I-75 north/south and I-64 east/west. Lexington is easily accessible by car or plane and is within 600 miles of 75% of the U.S. population. Although the Lexington Blue Grass Airport is served by many airlines, the Cincinnati International Airport is approximately 80 miles north on I-75 and the Louisville International Airport is approximately 80 miles west on I-64.
Transportation from Bluegrass Airport to the hotels is as followed:
Transportation will be provided by CBMI from both conference hotels to and from CBMI classes. The Transportation Schedule is available here and will also be available at each hotel front desk and at on-site registration. Participant parking is located in Parking Structure #5. The charge to park in Parking Structure #5 is $2 for the first hour, $2 for the second hour, $1 per hour thereafter, with a maximum per day charge of $5. You will not be able to purchase parking passes from CBMI. Pay directly in the parking structure via machines. They accept cash and credit/debit cards.
A group photo of all first-year participants and a group photo of all returning participants will be taken on Monday, just prior to lunch. Each participant will receive a copy of the photo, included in their registration fee. The photo will be behind Memorial Hall outdoors; it is encouraged that all participants wear casual attire.
Wireless internet is available throughout the entire University of Kentucky campus. The public network is named “UKYEDU”. You will connect to this network and are not required to supply any credentials. This connection is simplified and does not allow you to send/receive emails through the Microsoft Outlook application. The Southern Association of College and University Business Officers was founded in 1928 to inform higher education institutions in the southern region of the United States of issues that affect higher education. The purpose of the association is to foster, develop, and promote improved principles and efficient practices in the business and financial management of colleges and universities.
SACUBO is one of four regional associations that constitute the National Association of College and University Business Officers (NACUBO). NACUBO is headquartered in Washington, D.C., and represents the needs of higher education as well as acting as a clearing house for information and professional development. The other three regional associations are CACUBO, EACUBO, and WACUBO.
