The presentation elaborates on the building blocks of the European Standardization System.
During this interactive session, you will be asked to give your perception of the European Standardization System. These perceptions will be re-evaluated during the closing session of StandarDays (Day II).
Learn how European Standards offer one route to complying with the essential requirements as set out in the European Directives and how European Standards support European policies.
Focus will be on the main bodies involved in standardization work; the national delegation principle and other actors in Technical Committees.
You will be taken through the standards development process from A to Z and get acquainted with the CEN and CENELEC deliverables, learn about the key principles.
Furthermore you will receive an insight into the way CEN and CENELEC closely cooperate with their international counterparts ISO and IEC.
Drafting European Standards is about sharing knowledge. In this session, you will learn how Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) are applied in the process of shaping European Standards, and understand the links between copyrights, patents and standards. The European funded initiative “IPR Helpdesk” will be also invited to advise SMEs on the way to address IPR matters within the context of standardization.
Quality infrastructure includes standardization, accreditation , conformity assessment (such as certification and testing services), and metrology. It is a prerequisite for the participation in international trade, product trace-ability, environmental and health protection product compatibility, and supports consumer and supplier confidence in products and services. This session address the role of European Standardization
Standardization is a vital part of the innovation life cycle. This session will address the role standards play in driving innovation, scaling up of research results and bringing new stakeholders to standardization. The presenters will also give an overview of the current Horizon 2020 calls where standardization should be addressed and give practical tips and guidance on how this can be done in practice.
