The Certified Food & Wellness Volunteer Training Program is a comprehensive course offering forty hours of training, using online modules for much of the education and ending with a full day of on-site training at Penn State University in State College.

The Certified Food & Wellness Volunteer Training Program is comprehensive (40) hour course designed to prepare candidates for the community outreach phase of the program. Training will be provided by Penn State educators and specialists. The training will consist of on-line sessions and a face-to-face hands-on experience.
Volunteers are required to apply and and interview prior to registering. Before registering, interested volunteers can call 570-988-3950 or email Lynn James (firstname.lastname@example.org) for an application. Applicants who qualify will be contacted for an interview. Deadline for submitting applications is February 28, 2017.Non-Volunteers can register without completing the application and interview process.
The Certified Food & Wellness Volunteer concept is based on national volunteer programs used in Extension. Certified Food & Wellness volunteers will provide education to the public about foods, nutrition and food safety. Individuals with a strong knowledge base and interest are being recruited for the position. These individuals will help expand the nutrition educational efforts of Penn State Extension by working in local communities and organizations.
