CIA Review Sessions (8 CPE’s per day of review): The course corresponds to the three parts of the Certified Internal Auditor examination administered by the IIA. Even if you are not registered for the exam you may find this a good overview of Internal Auditing, or a chance to learn what the exam is all about. Course Overview: Part 1: Internal Audit Basics August 5, 2016 Individuals completing this course should be prepared to take Part 1 of the Certified Internal Auditor Exam. The individual will understand IIA mandatory guidance, internal control and risk concepts and tools and techniques for conducting the audit engagement.Part 2: Internal Audit Practice: September 9, 2016Individuals completing this course should be prepared to take Part 2 of the Certified Internal Auditor Exam. The individual will understand managing the internal audit function, managing individual engagements and fraud risks and controls.Part 3: Internal Audit Knowledge Elements October 21 and 28, 2016 (Due to the extensive scope of this section, the review will be broken out in a two day session)Individuals completing this course should be prepared to take Part 3 of the Certified Internal Auditor Exam. Topics included in this session are governance, risk management, organizational structure and business processes, communication, leadership, information technology and business continuity, financial management and global business environment.Garland Granger, CPA, CIA, CFE Mr. Granger is president of Professional Accounting Seminars, Inc. He worked for 2 years in banking, 8 years in public accounting and is Associate Professor of Accounting at Guilford College in Greensboro. Garland has taught the CIA Review course for the Charlotte chapter for the past five years. He taught a three-weekend CIA review course for the Boston Chapter of the IIA for six years. The course was offered twice a year and during that time over seven hundred attendees became CIAs. He has also taught a CIA review course for the Columbia, South Carolina Chapter for twenty-four years. Garland taught the Auditing portion of the Lambers CPA Review course in Greensboro for thirty years. He has been teaching accounting seminars for the past 19 years. He has taught more than 900 continuing education seminars for CPAs in twenty states. He offers seminars to the public as well as teaching in-house seminars to CPA firms and major corporations.
