Certified Trustee Program 19-5

The administration of a public pension fund is a very complex task. This four-part educational program is designed to increase a trustee’s basic knowledge of fiduciary responsibility, the fundamentals of investing, funding and actuarial concepts, medical and disability issues, the administration of pension benefits, and legal and ethical issues. Illinois statutes hold the pension fund trustee to the standard of a “prudent expert,” yet give little direction on how a trustee can obtain a fundamental understanding of important legal and administrative tasks. To meet these needs, the IPPFA, an Association of Public Pension Funds, began a partnership with Northern Illinois University in 1999 to offer the public pension funds the Trustee Certification Program. This 32-hour program is broken down into four 8-hour modules. Register now to learn from professionals who have many years of experience in public pension fund administration and management.

The IPPFA Certified Trustee Program is the ONLY 32-hour public pension trustee certification program in Illinois that meets the requirements of the Illinois Pension Code and is certified by Northern Illinois University.

The IPPFA Certified Trustee Programs are now strictly digital registration (please note: a fee of $25.00 will be assessed if registration is not done online).
