At the age of six, Brandon was stricken with a very rare blood disorder called disseminated intervascular coagulation or “DIC”. In the medical field, DIC is also known as “death is coming” due to the 5% chance of survival. After nine weeks in Le Bonheur Children’s Hospital in Memphis, TN, Brandon beat the disease, but lost both of his legs below the knee. He returned home and started a long rehab process that eventually led to prosthetic limbs.
Brandon was very active in sports throughout his childhood and adolescence years, playing baseball, basketball, tennis, and soccer on school teams. He mostly played these sports while running on his knees. He joined a wheelchair basketball team and won two national championships with the Jackson (TN) Generals. He turned his focus to golf in the early 2000’s and has won his division in the National Amputee Golf Tournament twice, most recently in 2015.
Brandon attended Tennessee-Martin, graduating magna cum laude in 2004 and earning his MBA in 2006. He served the Epsilon Sigma Chapter as Sergeant at Arms, coached the three-time campus championship flag football team and was also voted “Most Athletic Pike” two years in a row.
Brandon works for Huntsville, Alabama-based Fourroux Prosthetics in sales and business development. He serves on the board of directors for the Jackson Center for Independent Living and is also the treasurer for the National Amputee Golf Association.
Brandon and his wife Sara reside in Jackson, Tennessee with their three dogs.
