This course is designed to address issues related to physical abuse, sexual abuse, emotional abuse and neglect of children across cultures. This course will cover reporting laws, methods of assessing for abuse, the process of reporting and diagnostics. In addition, it will address what happens after a child abuse report is processed from a child, family, clinician and system’s perspective. Treatment of children and families will include evidenced-based practices. Finally, clinician self-care and burnout prevention will be discussed.
