CII Spring 2019 Conference

Pension Fund Trustee Training – Fiduciary Fitness

Monday, March 4, from 8:30 AM - 2:30 PM ET

Oriental C

CII and the CFA Institute are pleased to offer a high-quality, one-day training program tailored for public pension fund trustees.

The six-hour course starts with fiduciary duties and ethics training based on real-life case studies that provide instruction and encourage critical thinking. Trustees will hone their investment skills in “basic training” and in seminars on advanced topics such as private equity and understanding money manager fee structures. Instructors are seasoned professionals with deep knowledge and respect for the challenges fund trustees face. The course wraps up with a panel discussion on hot topics in fund governance led by current and former trustees.

The course is an entertaining and interactive program different from others. It covers fiduciary ethics, investment oversight skills and fund governance challenges delivered by experienced trustees and CFA Institute experts. It discusses key issues vital for both new and experienced trustees. And with CFA Institute’s support, CII is able to offer trustee training at an extremely low price ($395, non-CII member trustees pay $595).

The program precedes CII’s spring conference in Washington, D.C., March 4-6, 2019. Trustees who participate in the course are welcome to attend the conference at no charge. To register for trustee training and the dinner, please contact Kylund Arnold at kylund@cii.org or 202.261.7084.

The full course curriculum is available here.

Trustee Roundtable & Dinner

Monday, March 4, from 7:15 - 9:15 PM ET

Gallery Room

(Private event for pension fund trustees. Separate registration required)

Pension fund trustees are invited to attend a private dinner and roundtable discussion. The dinner, which is free and open just to trustees, will be chaired by Tom Byrne, former chair of the New Jersey Division of Investment. The dinner will be a great opportunity to network and share ideas with fellow trustees in a relaxed setting. The roundtable will kick off with a short overview of CII priorities of interest to trustees, by CII senior staff. Afterward, trustees will dine privately and get to know each other, and then spend some time discussing issues of mutual interest.

For questions about the Trustee Roundtable Dinner, please contact CII Deputy Director Amy Borrus. To register for the dinner, please contact Kylund Arnold.
