Purpose of the Scholarship

The primary purpose of the Colorado Scholarship for Diverse Talent Development is to increase and support culturally and linguistically diverse (CLD) students' access to talent development opportunities through teacher training.

The Colorado Scholarship is intended to support teachers working in Title I schools who are new to the field of gifted education.  This opportunity provides teachers the tools for identifying and understanding the needs of underserved gifted learners.  Selected candidates will attend the CAGT annual conference and participate in activities and/or presentations focusing on the fundamentals of gifted education with an emphasis on working with underserved populations.  Upon completion of the program, candidates will complete a short "project" exhibiting their understanding of the issues addressed.

Selection Criteria:

1.  Applicant must work in a Title I School.
2.  Applicant has not previously attended a CAGT conference.
3.  Applicant has not previously received this scholarship.
4.  Applicant should be new (1-2 years of experience) in the field or Gifted/Talented position.

A completed application will include:

1.  The online questions.
2.  Uploaded Personal Statement.
3.  Uploaded Professional Resume.
4.  Upload Two Online Recommendations.

In order to complete the online application you will need to:

Upload a personal statement that describes:

1. Why you should be selected for this scholarship.
2. Your passion for working with CLD students.
3. Expected goals and potential benefits to students.
4. Your position and ability to affect change.


A professional resume that includes:

1. Your experience working with CLD students.
2. Your school's philosophy of gifted education.
3. What your school does to support CLD students. 

All application materials must be received by Monday, May 20, 2019.

Important Information: Recipients who live beyond 60 miles of the venue (Loveland) may request a hotel room (must be willing to share with another recipient of the same sex).  Breakfast and lunch will be provided, not dinner.

CAGT cannot provide substitute teachers for the recipients, thus it is very important to have the support of your principal or administrator.
