In this five-day course you will receive an in-depth understanding of the theory and operation of the device, machine procedures, technical descriptions including parts location and identification, preventive maintenance procedures and how to troubleshoot basic prime and equipment issues.Upon completing this curriculum you will be able to:•Describe the basics of blood components•List clinical applications for which the COBE Spectra system is used•Describe the parts of the COBE Spectra system•Load and prime the tubing set•Perform a saline run•Complete preventive maintenance on the COBE Spectra system and accessories•Troubleshoot basic machine alarms and hardware failures using your service material •Troubleshoot common (prime) alarmsPre-requisites: Attendees must have a strong electrical/mechanical background equivalent to an associate’s degree in electronics. The attendees must complete the pre-class reading assignments and be prepared to pass a quiz.
