Students who successfully complete a course will receive a certificate of completion. The College Bound courses are non-credit bearing and do not directly transfer into our academic program offerings or the offerings of any other institution. However, as part of the course, you will have the opportunity to develop a portfolio that you are able to request proficiency credit. Proficiency credit is awarded based on the proficiency credit policy defined in an institution’s academic catalog. Check with the school you are interested in attending for exceptions and details, as not all programs are offered at all locations. Individual location participation is subject to change.
*Proficiency credit is one way for students to potentially reduce college expenses and the time to complete a degree program at any Art Institutes location. Credit is awarded based on successful demonstration of college level learning outcomes through a proficiency assessment for the identified course. Demonstration of learning is often through an in-person assessment, the presentation of a portfolio, or other means based on course learning outcomes. Upon successful completion of a College Bound non-credit course, students will have completed a portfolio that may be submitted for proficiency evaluation to The Art Institutes school of their choice upon acceptance into the school. No more than 25 percent (30 percent at Virginia schools) of a program’s required credits will be considered for any type of proficiency credit.
