The staff at CSI-Cincinnati are continually being asked why an In-Progress Course is taking the place of a course with earned credit or why a previously completed requirement is now showing In-Progress. Each situation is different and cannot be solved with a generic fix. This session will give you some tools and strategies for troubleshooting at your institution. The processing phases will be reviewed and different settings to manipulate course movement within the audit will be addressed.

Learn how to add generic “courses” in TES® that can be utilized for transfer evaluation and equivalencies. Michigan Technological University has developed a process that will automatically award a student's degree(s) based on a degree audit which runs complete. The process will assign appropriate honors to the student and update the degree code on their record. Population selection is utilized to determine the students for evaluation. Michigan Tech is on Banner Student 8.5 and Darwin 3.9.5.

The goal of this panel discussion is to share ideas, experiences, and even functional test plans to better situate all of us for the upgrade to u.achieve. One size will not fit all, but we can likely learn a lot from each other's experiences. There will also be an on-going forum discussion on this topic both before and after the Users conference to supplement this discussion.

With automated transcript data capture and clear, comprehensive views into course equivalency information – including automated lookups in TES -- staff can deliver transfer credit decisions confidently and quickly. The result: Students receive the information they need in days instead of weeks or months.

We have used TES as our primary research tool for equivalency production since 2007. Since July, 2011, we have built 26,616 equivalencies for 70 schools, which resulted in 98,499 equivalencies for 149 individual entries in the Equivalency Manager. This multiplication of data sets is a result of multi-branch schools’ equivalencies applying to all branches once equivalencies were built for a single location. This broad-spectrum application has never been possible for us in the past. Catalog migration tools have made finding new equivalencies much faster. Our goal is to complete the data entry for 120 schools by March, 2012, export what we have to Datatel, then re-evaluate and move forward.

Penn State: At Penn State our degree audit exception processing is decentralized across all of our campuses and colleges. Penn State has developed our own web exception entry screen that automatically pulls in a list of pseudo names for the major program on the student’s record. Attend this presentation and see the screens our staff uses to enter exceptions and how we (in the Registrar’s Office) can control what sub-requirements are available for exception entry by staff.

UCSB: In 2009, UCSB went live with the Degree Audit Exception Workflow in our staff degree audit web interface, Academic Advising Assistant (AAA). This workflow allows department and College staff to electronically enter petitions which would have previously been done on paper. To date, 80+% of the approximately 11,380 petitions entered through the electronic workflow have required no manual intervention and have gone automatically into DARwin as exceptions. This has also reduced the amount of lost or misplaced paper petitions and provides permanent electronic storage for important information about students’ degrees.

This presentation will cover how the University of Colorado evaluates enhancement requests, how the requirements are gathered and reviewed, testing, and most importantly, a review of what information we pass currently via our interface and how this adds value to the degree audit. This includes, but is not limited to, passing course and system condition codes, high school courses, IFLGs, marker requirements, student exceptions, and transcript information. The session will also include time for other users to share what functionality their degree audit interface supports and the benefits they have experienced from enhancing it.

The log file in u.achieve is basically the equivalent as the DARwin dump file. This session is designed to give a high level overview of the u.achieve log file for clients that want to take a look at this troubleshooting tool. The log is still being refined and is currently used by the Production and Development staff for troubleshooting. This session is for the curious advanced user that wants to try to do some troubleshooting at home. The session will define the different log levels and some specific sections of the log for basic troubleshooting.

Over the last 15 years, Dr. Holaday has experienced the transfer process from a number of perspectives: as an academic advisor, an equivalency/articulation manager, a leader in statewide articulation development, and a manager/designer of transfer articulation software packages. In this session, he examines some of the fundamental challenges in dealing with transfer and how they have or have not changed in the last decade using four axes: “Transfer” as a core mission vs. recruiting “filler,” administrative vs. faculty-driven evaluation of credit, contextual vs. holistic credit analysis, and institution vs. state-wide solutions.

In this session, we’ll walk through a demo of the CollegeSource Security web application and discuss how components like users, groups, roles, and permissions can be managed in it. Additionally, we will review the security implementations that are currently supported within CollegeSource products, including LDAP, CAS, and using database tables. At CU Boulder we are taking u.select to the next level. Focusing on recruitment, we have added the state mandated articulation agreements as a program/plan for prospective students to access. Within the plans we have incorporated hyperlinks back to the state website using tiny url encoding. We are also using the messaging areas available to inform the student of special situation when looking at applying to CU Boulder. From a training standpoint, we have held numerous training sessions on campus for various colleges/schools, advisors, and staff. We are utilizing a home/self-articulation table to convert quarter course identities into semester course identities in DARS which reduces the amount of exceptions needed for requirements and sub-requirements in students' degree programs. Wright State University, offers an electronic individualized undergraduate advising plan called, "My Advising Plan (MAP)". MAPs are based on an a student's assigned Interactive Audit degree program that has utilized the course cart feature to show a student's audit as, "All Requirements Completed - In-Progress Courses Used". An advisor approved MAP helps guarantee the University’s Pledge to Students which promises that transition students will not spend additional time or money due to our conversion to a semester academic calendar.
