There is no debate on the view that sales of electric vehicles (EVs) will be on an upswing in Asia over the coming decade. To meet their climate change mitigation goals, many Asian governments have drafted ambitious EV adoption plans. However, to make these plans viable, one of the crucial components of the EV ecosystem is adequate charging infrastructure. Development of publicly available, fast charging stations is imperative to support the desired growth in EVs. The fundamental issues being debated, thus, revolve around where to charge the EVs, who will fund the building of charging infrastructure, and whether electricity grids will be ready for the envisioned EV growth.
To discuss these issues and explore the best solutions for Asia, Global Transmission Report is organising a conference on EV Charging Infrastructure Asia on May 8-9, 2019 at InterContinental, Singapore. The mission of the conference is to highlight plans, grid implications, technologies and business models to build efficient and viable EV charging infrastructure in Asia.
The one-and-a-half day conference will have 10 sessions covering a wide range of topics relevant for all stakeholders in the EV charging infrastructure segment in Asia. It will present policies and plans for building EV charging infrastructure in key Asian economies. It will also highlight the latest technological developments and solutions to improve customer experience and interaction. The event will also discuss the role of energy storage and distributed generation in building efficient charging infrastructure, especially in areas with poor power supply.
Reliable grid connectivity is the key to build adequate EV charging infrastructure. There are serious implications of the demand for and load profile of EV charge points on the grid. Are utilities and grid operators ready? The conference will have a dedicated session to discuss the impact of EVs on power grid planning, operations and security. It will also help understand the regulatory requirements and standards for building EV charge points in key economies.
A key challenge in rolling out a robust charging infrastructure is financing. The conference will provide an opportunity to understand the role governments and private investors can play in this area. It will also deliver insights into possible business models for building viable charging networks and offer learning from leading global and regional charge point developers and operators.
The conference will bring together leading utilities, grid operators, regulators, investors, consultants, OEMs, charging equipment suppliers, and solution providers to help shape the future of Asia’s E-mobility space.
The conference will have focused sessions to:
