Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED)****Course covers: Crime Prevention Through Environmental Design (CPTED) is one of the most requested topics for law enforcement personnel today. This particular course looks at environmental design and usage from several perspectives. Those include the initial physical design of the building which is helpful to those who are currently planning to build an individual building or an entire campus. It looks at more in-depth detail that can be done with structures that are already built where, for nominal investments of time and costs, end-uses will have a much safer surrounding. The effects of lighting, landscaping, routine maintenance, fences, locks and similar items are reviewed for the most appropriate and effective placement, design and use. Finally, the course looks at how activities can be moved, or how seating, planters, and similar items of decoration can be utilized to alter usage to that which is more in line with what owners, users and law enforcement personnel desire. Students should bring their lap-tops to work on their class project.Cost of class per student is $250.00.
