Our sixth and final class in the series will explore issues associated with breach investigation and response. We will discuss best practices for developing a robust cyber incident response plan to minimize the potential negative effects of a breach as well as steps to take upon discovery that a cyber incident has occurred. The class will cover cyber incident notification requirements, including the timeframe for notification included in various agency regulations, and media preservation obligations. We also will discuss remedial actions and lessons learned to date. Finally, we will examine potential consequences associated with inadequate breach response.
