What does student participation look like? What’s the difference between participation and engagement? Is it always possible to tell when students are engaged? Many instructors want to assign marks to participation, but they are not sure how to do so fairly or accurately. In this session, we will discuss the pros and cons of assigning participation grades and reasonable methods of determining them, focusing on formative assessment as a key strategy.
