DC Chapter Meeting

The Latino population in the United States has reached nearly 60 million, representing 18% of the nation's total population, and has been the principal driver of U.S. demographic growth, accounting for half of national population growth since 2000. In most of the states, the Latino populations were majority U.S. born, but in the District of Columbia, 53% of Latinos are foreign born, and in Maryland, 50%.

Latinos are also vastly underserved by the financial mainstream and they represent a tremendous opportunity for our industry. The National Federation of Community Development Credit Unions is leading the national expansion of Juntos Avanzamos, a framework of operating principles and best practices design to help credit unions provide responsible, yet sustainable products and services to this demographic. Juntos Avanzamos has a presence in 21 states (AZ, CA, CO, CT, FL, IA, IL, MA, MI, MO, NJ, NM, NV, NY, OK, OH, OR, TX, UT, WA and WI) as well as DC and Puerto Rico. Together this institutions serve more than 4.5 million people through more than 600 branches.

Join DCFCU CEO and Federation board member Carla Decker who will provide insights about Juntos Avanzamos and how to effectively serve the Latino market. For more information about the program click here and visit www.juntosavanzamos.org
