Green Roof Design 101 Introductory Course (2nd Ed.)
This introductory training course on green roof infrastructure design presents many of the tools and techniques needed to meet your green roof project objectives on schedule, to specification, and within budget. The focus of the training will be on enhancing your skills in:
* Identifying the costs and benefits of green roofs to reach your green roof performance goals;
* Identifying a variety of green roof products and understanding the performance criteria of different green roof elements, and their relevance to your design intent;
* Understanding the major design principles for a successful green roof project and the causes for error which might lead to an unsuccessful green roof project;
* Determining the various professions and competencies required to optimally implement your successful green roof project.
For more information on the course and it's contents, please refer to our website www.greenroofs.org.
Tuition:
Tuition for this one-day course is $399 for a non-GRHC Member and $349 for a Professional Member. Tuition includes course materials, continental breakfast, lunch, and breaks. If paying by cheque, please note it must be received in our office no later than three days before the event. Registrations may be canceled by a participant up to THREE DAYS prior to the event, and will incur a $50 cancellation fee. We regret that we cannot cancel a registration after that point.
Green Roof Infrastructure: Design & Installation 201
This is GRHC’s second course in the Green Roof Accreditation Program. Registrants should have already taken the Green Roof Design 101 Introductory Course or have a solid understanding of green roof design and available technology.
This course covers a multitude of implementation issues and what cannot be taught in one day will be available as supporting documentation in the participant’s manual. Covering material dealing with green roof actors' roles and responsibilities, construction contracts & administration and material implementation, Green Roof Infrastructure Design and Installation 201 has it all!
This course provides the necessary information that will equip you to project manage the design and installation of a green roof. You will learn:
* Essential qualifications for your project team.
* Critical questions you need to ask your client (matching their ecological requirements to design practicalities).
* Identifying building code/municipal permit issues.
* Liability issues (including insurance, waivers, guarantees etc.).
* Design and implementation issues for new and retrofit buildings (including structural loading concerns, drainage, erosion control, storm water retention, etc.).
* Sub contracting and scheduling concerns.
...and much more.

Green Roof Infrastructure: Waterproofing and Drainage 301
This is GRHC’s third course in the Green Roof Accreditation Program. Registrants should have already taken the Green Roof Design 101 Introductory Course and Green Roof Infrastructure Design & Installation 201 or have an in-depth understanding of green roof design and available technology.
This course will provide participants with an overview of waterproofing and drainage construction and maintenance for green roof assemblies. It lays out technical vocabulary and materials and presents detailed design solutions and implementation best management practices for waterproofing and drainage in green roofs.
This course provides information that you can put to work immediately, allowing you to:
* Understand the principles of waterproofing and drainage as they apply to green roofs;
* Identify appropriate materials for waterproofing and drainage of your green roof project;
* Understand the technical design requirements for waterproofing and drainage in green roofs; and,
* Understand the potential implementation issues posed by the additional trades working on a roof and techniques for its prevention.
