After the success of the inaugural Doing School Differently conference we are back in 2018 to give you another opportunity to advance the national conversation on practice and research in flexible and inclusive education. Doing School Differently is an exciting Australian conference for everyone who is interested in this area. The conference will bring together educators, researchers, policy makers and young people who are committed to developing and sustaining successful educational opportunities and pathways for young people who have experienced barriers to education. Pam Snow
Is Head of the Rural Health School at LaTrobe University in Victoria. Pamela’s research has focused on the language skills of high-risk young people, and role of oral language competence as a protective factor in childhood and adolescence.
Russell Bishop
Is Emeritus Professor for Maori Education at the University of Waikato in New Zealand. Russell’s work focuses on culturally responsive relational pedagogy and how this can improve educational achievement.
Nathan Wallis
Nathan’s background includes early childhood teacher, child therapist, social service manager, university lecturer and neuroscience trainer.
Tom Brunzell
Is Senior Advisor Education with the Berry Street Childhood Institute. Tom presents internationally on trauma-informed practice, wellbeing and the application of positive psychology, and effective school leadership.
Youth+ is the arm of Edmund Rice Education Australia that focuses on young people disenfranchised from traditional education pathways and offers education and wellbeing services that are trauma informed in flexible, inclusive learning communities. The Berry Street Childhood Institute is a Knowledge-into-Action centre for improving childhood.
