This course will examine the latest information on conventional drugs, herbal supplements, and nutraceuticals that can impact dental and dental hygiene practice. Included will be new drugs, new intranasal ketorolac (Sprix), and OTC ibuprofen-acetaminophen combination. The latest 2012 Agency guidelines for cardioprotective aspirin use in men and women, new 2011 ADA guidelines for management of drug induced osteonecrosis of the jawbone; an antibiotic update including joint prosthesis prophylaxis as of December 2012 will be presented. This course will provide an antidepressant update, and introduce four newly approved blood thinner to replace Plavix and Courmadin.
